Therapy for Addiction and Recovery
Whether you are in recovery, thinking about cutting down, or worried about a pattern of behaviour, the therapists listed here have specific experience supporting clients through addiction.
Addiction therapy is most effective when you are honest with yourself about where you are. A good therapist will not judge you for using or for relapsing. They will help you understand what the substance or behaviour does for you and what else might do that job.
If you are dependent on alcohol or another drug, please also speak to your GP or a local recovery service. Detox is not something to attempt alone and some withdrawals can be medically dangerous.
Therapy is also useful for people in long-term recovery, for family members affected by someone else's addiction, and for those working with process addictions such as gambling, sex or compulsive use of social media.
