Terms of Service
Last updated: 29 April 2026
1. Introduction and acceptance
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Therapy Connect platform at therapyconnect.uk ("the Platform"), operated by Therapy Connect ("we", "us", "our").
By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform. These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use your personal data.
2. Definitions
- Platform — the Therapy Connect website, application, and all related services.
- Therapist — a qualified mental health professional who offers services through the Platform.
- Client — an individual who uses the Platform to find and engage with a Therapist.
- Session — a scheduled therapeutic appointment between a Client and a Therapist, conducted via video, phone, or in person.
- Content — any text, image, post, forum thread or reply, message, journal entry, attachment, profile field, or other material submitted to the Platform by a user.
- Account — a registered user profile on the Platform, whether Client, Therapist, or Admin.
- Community Areas — the public forum, the community feed (posts and replies), and any other area where Content is visible to users beyond a single one-to-one conversation.
- Pro Subscription — an optional paid subscription that unlocks additional features for Therapists.
3. Account registration and eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account. The Platform is not intended for minors.
- You must provide accurate, complete, and current information during registration and keep it up to date.
- You may only maintain one account per person. Creating duplicate or burner accounts to evade moderation is prohibited.
- You must verify your email address before your account becomes active.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You must notify us immediately at hello@therapyconnect.uk if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
4. Role of the Platform
Therapy Connect is an online marketplace and facilitator. We connect Clients with independent Therapists and provide tools for scheduling, communication, video sessions, payment, and peer community.
We are not a healthcare provider. We do not employ Therapists, provide clinical supervision, or deliver therapy. Therapists on the Platform are independent practitioners responsible for their own clinical practice, regulatory compliance, and professional conduct.
We do not endorse, recommend, or guarantee any particular Therapist. It is your responsibility to verify that a Therapist is suitable for your needs.
The Platform is not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, experiencing thoughts of self-harm, or facing a mental health emergency, please call 999 (UK), the Samaritans on 116 123, or attend your nearest A&E department. Therapy Connect cannot provide emergency intervention and messages, journal entries, and forum posts are not monitored in real time.
5. Therapist obligations
If you use the Platform as a Therapist, you agree to:
- Hold valid, current professional qualifications and be registered with the appropriate professional or governing body.
- Maintain adequate professional indemnity insurance for the services you offer.
- Provide accurate and up-to-date profile information, including your qualifications, areas of focus, modalities offered, and session rates.
- Conduct all sessions in accordance with your professional body's code of ethics and relevant UK regulations.
- Maintain client records and clinical notes in line with your professional record-keeping obligations.
- Respect the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship in Community Areas — the forum and community feed are not a substitute for therapy and you must not provide individual clinical advice through them.
- Honour any pro bono session allocations and external client invitations you issue, in line with your stated availability and rates.
- Promptly notify us if your professional registration, insurance, or fitness to practise changes in any way that affects your eligibility to provide services.
- Not record any session without the express informed consent of all participants.
6. Client obligations
If you use the Platform as a Client, you agree to:
- Provide honest and accurate information in your profile and when communicating with Therapists.
- Attend booked sessions or cancel within the Therapist's stated cancellation period.
- Treat Therapists, other Clients, moderators, and staff with respect and courtesy.
- Pay for sessions in accordance with the agreed rates and payment terms.
- Not use the Platform for any purpose other than seeking legitimate therapeutic support, peer connection, or wellbeing tracking.
- Not record any session, message thread, or other private communication without the express informed consent of all participants.
- Use journal, mood, and assessment features in good faith and only to track your own wellbeing.
7. Sessions and scheduling
- Sessions are booked through the Platform based on the Therapist's published availability.
- Session modality (video, phone, in-person, live chat, or asynchronous messaging) is agreed between the Client and Therapist.
- Cancellations and rescheduling are subject to the individual Therapist's cancellation policy, which is displayed on their profile. Reschedule and cancellation requests are negotiated through the Platform.
- We provide the video infrastructure for online sessions but are not responsible for connectivity issues on your end, on your Therapist's end, or with the underlying network.
- We do not record, store, or have access to the audio or video content of any session.
- Recording sessions in any form (audio, video, screenshot, or transcription) without the express informed consent of all participants is strictly prohibited and may also be unlawful.
8. Payments, fees, and subscriptions
- All payments are processed securely through Mollie. We never see or store your full card details.
- Session fees are set by the Therapist and displayed on their profile before booking.
- Therapy Connect may charge a platform service fee, which will be clearly disclosed.
- Therapist earnings are paid out according to the schedule described in the Platform's earnings section. Tax obligations on earnings are the Therapist's sole responsibility.
- Pro Subscription: Therapists may subscribe to optional paid features. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before renewal. You can cancel at any time from your account; access continues until the end of the current billing period and no partial refunds are issued for unused time.
- Pro bono tokens issued to Clients via Therapist invitations entitle the Client to a specified number of sessions at no cost, subject to the issuing Therapist's availability. Tokens have no cash value and cannot be transferred or resold.
- Refunds for cancelled sessions are handled in accordance with the Therapist's cancellation policy. Disputed charges should be raised with us at hello@therapyconnect.uk.
9. User content and licence
You retain ownership of any Content you submit to the Platform (posts, forum threads and replies, profile information, messages, journal entries, uploaded files). By submitting Content, you grant Therapy Connect a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, distribute, reproduce, and store that Content as necessary to operate, secure, moderate, and improve the Platform. This licence ends when the Content is removed, except to the extent we are required or permitted to retain it for legal, audit, or backup purposes.
You confirm that you own or have the necessary rights to all Content you submit, and that your Content does not infringe the rights of any third party.
10. Community guidelines
The forum, community feed, messaging, and any other area where Content is visible to other users are subject to the following standards. They apply to all users — Clients, Therapists, and Admins — and to all forms of Content including text, images, links, file attachments, and usernames.
You must not post, send, upload, or share any Content that:
- Hate speech or discrimination — attacks or demeans individuals or groups on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, neurodivergence, immigration status, or any other protected characteristic.
- Harassment, bullying, or threats — targeted abuse, intimidation, stalking, doxing, sustained unwanted contact, or threats of violence directed at any person.
- Sexual content — pornography, sexually explicit material, sexual content involving minors (which we will report to the relevant authorities), or unsolicited sexual advances.
- Violence and self-harm glorification — content that promotes, glorifies, or provides instructions for violence, self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders. Discussion of personal experiences for support is welcome; promotion or "how to" content is not.
- Illegal content or activity — anything that breaks UK law, including but not limited to drug supply, weapons trafficking, terrorism-related content, fraud, or copyright infringement.
- Personal data of others — sharing identifiable information about another person (name, photo, address, contact details, employer, health information, session content, or other private details) without their explicit consent.
- Misinformation that may cause harm — false or misleading medical, mental-health, or safety claims that could endanger users.
- Impersonation — pretending to be another person, organisation, professional body, or member of Therapy Connect staff; or misrepresenting your professional qualifications or registration.
- Spam and unsolicited promotion — repetitive content, bulk messaging, off-platform advertising, multi-level marketing, recruitment, or any commercial activity unrelated to therapy or peer support.
- Off-platform solicitation — directing other users to arrange sessions, payments, or contact outside the Platform in order to evade fees, moderation, or safeguarding.
- Malicious code — viruses, malware, phishing links, or any code or link intended to compromise the Platform or its users.
- Confidential session material — quoting, screenshotting, or otherwise sharing the content of a private therapy session, supervision session, or one-to-one message thread without the consent of all parties.
Additional guidance for Therapists in Community Areas. The forum and community feed are spaces for general education, peer connection, and wellbeing — they are not a setting for individual clinical advice or for forming a therapeutic relationship. You must follow your professional body's guidance on social media and online conduct, and clearly direct anyone seeking individual support to book a session or contact appropriate emergency services.
11. Reporting, moderation, and enforcement
We rely on our community to flag Content that may breach these Terms. Any user can report a post, reply, forum thread, message, or profile through the in-product reporting tools.
- Reports are reviewed by our moderation team and assessed against these Terms and our Community Guidelines.
- We may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice, remove or hide Content, limit your access to certain features, issue warnings, suspend your account, or terminate it.
- Action taken depends on the severity of the breach, your history on the Platform, and the impact on other users. Single severe breaches (e.g. threats of violence, sexual content involving minors, doxing) may result in immediate permanent termination.
- Repeated or escalating breaches will result in escalating enforcement, up to and including permanent termination and a ban on creating new accounts.
- We may also report illegal Content or behaviour to law enforcement and cooperate with any lawful investigation.
- Submitting false, malicious, or repetitive reports against other users is itself a breach of these Terms.
If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, you may appeal by emailing hello@therapyconnect.uk within 30 days of the decision.
12. Prohibited conduct
In addition to the Community Guidelines above, you must not:
- Use the Platform for any fraudulent or illegal purpose
- Attempt to circumvent Platform fees by arranging sessions or payments outside the Platform
- Scrape, crawl, harvest, or use automated tools, bots, or AI agents to access or extract data from the Platform without our written permission
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise interfere with the security or integrity of the Platform
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, data, or system
- Use the Platform to train machine-learning or generative-AI models on user Content without our written permission
- Share your account credentials with any other person, or allow another person to use your account
- Use false, misleading, or stolen identity information to register or to verify a Therapist account
13. Intellectual property
The Platform, including its design, code, branding, graphics, and original content, is owned by Therapy Connect and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Platform without our written permission.
If you believe Content on the Platform infringes your copyright, contact us at hello@therapyconnect.uk with a description of the work, the URL of the infringing material, and a statement that you are the rights-holder or are authorised to act on their behalf.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- Therapy Connect is not liable for the quality, safety, or outcome of any therapy session or therapeutic relationship facilitated through the Platform.
- We are not liable for the conduct, accuracy, or Content of any user, including any peer-support content posted in Community Areas.
- We provide the Platform "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or uninterrupted operation.
- We are not responsible for any loss, injury, or damage arising from your use of the Platform, including reliance on any Therapist's advice or services or on any Content posted by other users.
- Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Platform shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Therapy Connect, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, or damages (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your use of the Platform, any Content you submit, or any session you conduct or attend through the Platform.
16. Termination and account deletion
- You may delete your account at any time through your account settings.
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, engage in prohibited conduct, fail to pay amounts owed, or if we are required to do so by law or by a regulator.
- Upon termination or deletion, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately.
- When you delete your account, your personal information is removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Some records (for example, anonymised session and earnings history, payment records required by tax law, and content moderation logs) may be retained in anonymised or pseudonymised form for legal, audit, and safety purposes.
- Sections relating to liability, indemnification, intellectual property, governing law, and any retained record-keeping survive termination.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the Platform or by email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the Terms were last revised.
Your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using the Platform and delete your account.
18. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
